District Semi-Final on Management "Manage!”

On February 12, 2018 the Karelian branch of RANEPA will hold the district semi-final of the Russian Cup on management among the students.   About 50 students of universities and colleges of the North-Western federal district will participate in it. They will compete in managing virtual companies in business simulators. The participants of the semi-finals will manage a virtual company with similar initial indicators and during the competition day they will develop a strategy and a set of managerial decisions on its implementation in direct competition with each other.

The Cup "Manage!" is part of the open platform "Russia - country of opportunities". The purpose of the Cup is to identify students with managerial potential and to create conditions for the development of their competencies. In the framework of the competition, the participants perform cases as close to real-world as possible, and make strategic decisions.

The best participants will go to Moscow for the final. The winners will receive grants and invitations to internships and trips to the world championship on business management Global Management Challenge. The final will be held on 27-28 February, 2018. 150 students from across the country will meet in Moscow.

Mr Shoptenko, project manager and Director of the Institute of organizational development and strategic initiatives of RANEPA, said: "One needs not only knowledge but also certain competencies to win. The first and foremost competency is to be able to compute: to estimate, to count and to predict the success of the company, to make decisions according to the scenario, analyzing the situation. The second competency is communication skills, i.e. the ability to quickly build a team of strangers, to divide the functions between them, to agree on a strategy and to implement it. And the third competency is the soft skills, the ability to present the results of one’s work."

The operator of the Cup "Manage!" is the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.
